Florida State can still be very strong, particularly for students interested in government, public policy, politics, and Florida-based industries because Tallahassee puts you close to the state capitol and many public-sector offices. So the better answer depends a lot on what kind of internship ecosystem you want, not just which school is “better” in the abstract.

Michigan State tends to suit the student who wants a big-campus recruiting environment with lots of employer connections built into the university. MSU has a very large alumni base, strong career services, and established recruiting pipelines in areas like business, supply chain, communications, engineering, education, and health-related fields. If you want the kind of place where large companies regularly know the school, return to recruit, and offer many paths to internships beyond one specific city or state, MSU has an edge.

Florida State makes more sense for the student who wants internships tied closely to state government, law, lobbying, public administration, nonprofits, and political work. Being in Tallahassee is a real advantage because internships during the school year can be more accessible when the legislature, agencies, and advocacy organizations are nearby. FSU also has solid employer connections in business, media, hospitality, and Florida-based organizations, but its internship strength feels more location-driven and especially valuable if you want to build a network in Florida.

If you are undecided on major and want the widest overall undergrad employer exposure, Michigan State is the safer bet. If your interests lean toward public affairs or you want to work in Florida during and after college, Florida State can be the more strategically useful place to spend four years.
