Which college is better for accessing city internships, Florida State or Fordham?

Fordham offers substantially stronger access to city internships because its Rose Hill campus in the Bronx and Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan place students inside New York City’s internship market during the academic year. Students can pursue part-time roles with employers in finance, media, nonprofit work, arts, technology, healthcare, and government without needing to relocate for the semester. Fordham’s Lincoln Center location is especially convenient for students targeting Manhattan-based organizations.

Florida State is in Tallahassee, which creates a different but valuable internship environment. As Florida’s capital, Tallahassee gives FSU students unusually direct access to state government, legislative offices, public policy groups, lobbying organizations, and state agencies. Those opportunities can be excellent for political science, public administration, communications, law-oriented, and policy-focused students, but the city has a smaller and less varied private-sector internship market than New York.

The timing also favors Fordham for urban internships: New York employers often hire students for internships during fall and spring, and commuting from campus makes those roles more realistic alongside classes. FSU students can certainly build strong experience in Tallahassee and may use summers for internships in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, or elsewhere, but that often requires separate housing and planning.

For a student whose priority is broad, year-round access to internships in a major city, Fordham has the clearer location advantage. FSU becomes particularly compelling when the desired urban experience is specifically tied to Florida state government or public-sector work.
