What are the general freshman admissions requirements for Tulane University?

I’m a high school junior starting to plan my college list, and Tulane is one of the schools I’m considering. I want to understand the general freshman admissions requirements before I spend time on the application.

I’m mainly looking for the basic academic and application expectations for first-year applicants.

Tulane University does not have a rigid checklist of minimum freshman admissions requirements, but first-year applicants generally need a completed application, high school transcript, a school report or counselor recommendation, one teacher recommendation, and either test scores or a test-optional application. Tulane accepts the Common Application and also requires a writing supplement and the application fee or fee waiver request.

Academically, Tulane expects a strong college-preparatory high school record with challenging courses in English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language when available. The university reviews applicants holistically, so grades, course rigor, extracurricular involvement, and essays all matter. Tulane is test optional for first-year applicants, so SAT or ACT scores are not required, though you can submit them if you think they strengthen your application.
