Its women’s basketball program is one of the defining programs in college athletics. The Storrs campus can feel especially unified on big game days because athletics are a major shared social outlet there.

BC competes at a high-profile level in the ACC, so football opponents and conference visibility are real advantages. Its hockey program has a long history of success and passionate support, and being in the Boston area means access to a serious sports city. At the same time, BC’s atmosphere can feel less all-consuming than UConn’s because many students are also drawn into Boston itself and the city’s professional teams.

For overall college sports experience, UConn is the stronger pick. Choose BC only if ACC football, top-tier college hockey, and a Boston-based campus experience matter more to you than having basketball at the center of campus life.
