Which is better for D.C. internships: Boston College or Georgetown?
I’m a high school junior/senior trying to narrow down my college list and I’m especially interested in internships in Washington, D.C. I know both Boston College and Georgetown are strong schools, but I’m not sure which one gives students better access to D.C. internship opportunities and connections.
I’m mainly trying to understand which school would make it easier to find and land internships in D.C. as an undergrad.

Georgetown is clearly better for Washington, D.C. internships. It is located in D.C., has long-standing ties to federal agencies, nonprofits, think tanks, embassies, and Capitol Hill, and many students intern during the semester because commuting is realistic. Boston College is a strong school with a solid alumni network, but it does not offer the same day-to-day access to D.C. opportunities while you are in school.
At Georgetown, the biggest advantage is proximity. Students can take internships during fall or spring without needing to relocate for the summer, and that matters because many policy, government, and advocacy roles are built around part-time in-semester work.
Boston College can still get you to D.C., especially through summer internships, alumni outreach, and programs tied to politics, law, business, or public service. But it usually takes more planning because you are based in Boston, so semester internships in D.C. are less convenient and less common unless you do a specific away program. If your priority is making D.C. internships easy and frequent during undergrad, Georgetown has the stronger built-in advantage.
The only real case for choosing Boston College over Georgetown on this specific question would be if you strongly prefer BC overall for academic, financial, or personal reasons and are comfortable targeting D.C. mostly in the summers. For direct access, volume of nearby opportunities, and everyday networking, Georgetown is the better choice.
