Which is better for internships: Loyola Marymount or Fordham?

The biggest tradeoff is Los Angeles access through Loyola Marymount versus New York City access through Fordham. Both schools make internships realistic during the school year, but Fordham usually has the edge for sheer volume and convenience because of its New York location and the number of industries that hire part-time interns nearby. Loyola Marymount also places students well, especially in entertainment, media, business, and communications, but the internship landscape in LA can be more car-dependent and less centralized.

Fordham benefits from being deeply plugged into Manhattan internships, especially through Lincoln Center and the school’s long-standing connections in finance, business, media, nonprofits, law, and public service. For many students, that means more options that can fit around classes during the semester rather than only in the summer. The alumni network is also a real strength in New York, particularly in corporate and professional fields.

Loyola Marymount has a strong advantage if you are drawn to industries tied to Los Angeles, especially film, television, music, digital media, marketing, and certain startup or creative spaces. Its campus relationships and alumni presence in Southern California are meaningful, and LMU students do land impressive internships. The difference is that LA opportunities can require more planning around transportation, distance, and scheduling.

If the question is internships overall, Fordham is the safer pick because New York tends to offer denser access across more fields and makes in-semester experience easier to stack. I would lean LMU only if your interests are specifically tied to the LA entertainment and creative economy, where its location becomes a very real advantage.
