Is Loyola Marymount or Fordham better for finance careers?

I’m trying to choose between Loyola Marymount and Fordham and I want to end up in finance after college. I know both schools can lead to good jobs, but I’m not sure which one is stronger for recruiting, internships, and getting started in the finance world.

I’m looking for a school that gives me the better overall path into finance, not just a name that sounds good.

For finance specifically, Fordham usually offers the clearer path. Its location in New York City puts you much closer to investment banks, asset management firms, accounting firms, and corporate finance offices, which matters a lot for internships during the school year.

Fordham tends to fit the student who wants finance to be a central part of college from early on. Being in the Bronx with easy access to Manhattan makes it more realistic to do part-time internships, attend employer events, and build a network while classes are in session, not only over the summer. For careers like investment banking, sales and trading, equity research, or other traditional East Coast finance tracks, that proximity is a real advantage.

Loyola Marymount makes more sense for someone interested in finance but open to a broader West Coast business path. LMU has strong Los Angeles connections and can work well for corporate finance, entertainment business, real estate, wealth management, and some boutique finance opportunities.

Fordham has the edge because the school, city, and internship access line up more directly with that outcome. LMU is still a solid option, but it tends to be more compelling when a student specifically wants Los Angeles, values LMU’s campus culture, or sees their future in finance-adjacent industries rather than the most traditional finance recruiting channels.
