Is Florida State or Lehigh better for finance major and recruiting opportunities?

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale versus access. Florida State gives you a larger university environment, a broad alumni base, and a solid path into finance roles across Florida and the Southeast, while Lehigh offers a smaller, more targeted business-school setting where finance is a clearer campus strength and recruiting tends to feel more concentrated. For finance specifically, Lehigh usually has the stronger reputation with employers who know undergraduate business programs well, and its smaller size can make networking with professors, alumni, and recruiters more direct.

Lehigh’s College of Business is one of the school’s most established draws, and finance is a common destination there. Students benefit from a campus culture where business careers are very visible, and that matters because recruiting often builds on peer networks, alumni responsiveness, and employer familiarity with the program. Lehigh is also positioned closer to major Northeast finance markets, which can help with internships during the school year and alumni connections in places like New York and Philadelphia.

Florida State can still work very well for finance, especially if you want a lower-cost option, a big-campus experience, or a career base in Florida. Its business school is well regarded, and there are definitely students who place into strong internships and jobs, but recruiting is less likely to feel as finance-centered in the way it does at Lehigh. You may need to be more proactive there about joining the right clubs, building technical skills early, and creating your own pipeline to firms.

If the question is purely finance education plus recruiting strength, I’d give Lehigh the edge. If cost is significantly lower at Florida State or you want to build a career in the Southeast, FSU becomes much more compelling, but on finance focus and recruiting concentration, Lehigh is the more advantageous pick.
