Is pre-med advising better at the University of Richmond or Rice University?

Its pre-health advising is well regarded, and at a school Richmond’s size, some students find it easier to build close relationships with advisors and professors who know them well enough to give tailored guidance and write detailed recommendations.

Richmond often suits the student who prefers a more personal advising relationship over a bigger pre-med machine. You may need to be more intentional in seeking out certain clinical or research opportunities than you would at Rice, simply because Richmond does not have Rice’s immediate hospital ecosystem next door. But if you value mentorship, accessibility, and a campus where you may feel less like one of many pre-meds, Richmond has a real case.
