Which school is better for internships: Villanova or Temple?

The biggest practical tradeoff is city access versus a more residential campus network. Temple gives you day-to-day access to Philadelphia because it is in the city, which can make in-semester internships easier to fit into your week. Villanova is on the Main Line, but it has a strong alumni network and solid employer connections, especially in business, so internship support can still be very strong even if commuting takes a bit more planning.

For pure convenience and volume of nearby opportunities during the semester, Temple has an edge. Students can often reach Center City offices, hospitals, media organizations, nonprofits, and government-related placements more easily, and that matters when employers want part-time interns on site during the workweek. Temple’s location is one of its biggest advantages for students who want to intern early and often.

Villanova tends to be especially strong when the internship path runs through alumni ties, business recruiting, and structured career support. Its network can be particularly helpful in fields like finance, accounting, consulting, and some corporate roles. Employers in the region know Villanova well, and students often benefit from a more personal-feeling advising environment.

The answer also depends a lot on your major. For business, Villanova can be very compelling because of its reputation and recruiting relationships. For fields tied closely to the city such as media, public health, government, criminal justice, communications, and many nonprofit roles, Temple’s location is a real advantage.

If internship access while enrolled is the main factor, I would give Temple the slight advantage overall because being in Philadelphia makes frequent, practical access easier. If you are targeting business-heavy recruiting and value a tighter alumni network, Villanova can absolutely compete and may be the stronger option for that lane.
