Bucknell is also residential and student-focused, but it feels a bit more pre-professional and university-like because of its broader structure and engineering presence.

For campus vibe, Colgate tends to feel more self-contained and immersive. Hamilton is small and the campus sits on a hill with a very distinct sense that most of student life happens through the college, which many students experience as tight-knit and highly community-oriented. Bucknell, in Lewisburg, also has a strong campus culture, but the atmosphere is often described as slightly more varied and less purely liberal-arts-centric because the university includes multiple colleges and a wider mix of academic identities.

Academically, Colgate is especially appealing if you want the liberal arts at the center of the institution.
