Which school is better for internships, Colgate or Northeastern?

Northeastern has the clearer edge for internships. Its co-op model is built around extended full-time work experiences during college, Boston gives students access to a large year-round internship market, and the school has long-standing employer relationships that make internship and co-op recruiting a central part of the undergraduate experience.

Location matters a lot here. Northeastern students can intern during the academic year much more easily because they are in Boston, where there are many employers in business, tech, healthcare, nonprofits, media, and research. Colgate is in Hamilton, New York, which is a much more rural setting, so during-the-semester internships are naturally less accessible unless they are remote or tied to a specific off-campus program.

The structure of the schools is also very different. Northeastern is known for integrating work experience into college through co-ops, and that changes how students build resumes, networks, and professional experience before graduation. At Colgate, internships absolutely happen and the career center can help students find strong summer opportunities, but internships are not as embedded into the academic model in the same way.

For summer internships, both schools can place students well, but Northeastern still benefits from its employer network and the fact that many students already have relevant experience from earlier co-ops or internships. Colgate can be very strong for students who are proactive and take advantage of alumni connections, especially in fields like finance, consulting, and some nonprofit paths, but from a pure access-and-volume standpoint, Northeastern offers more built-in opportunity.
