Its business school is especially well regarded, and the school’s suburban Philadelphia location creates more straightforward access to internships, networking, and employer connections during the school year. Colgate’s clearest advantage is the undergraduate academic experience itself. It is more distinctly a liberal arts college in feel, with a highly residential campus, small classes, and a stronger emphasis on close interaction with professors across disciplines. Its alumni network has a reputation for being very engaged, and that can be meaningful, but it tends to matter most for students who really use that network and thrive in a tight-knit campus culture.

On long-term value, the name alone should not be the deciding factor for either school. Both are respected, but neither offers such overwhelming brand power that it routinely outweighs major debt.
