Which school is better for internships, Villanova or Drexel?

The biggest practical tradeoff is built-in structure versus flexibility. Drexel makes career experience a central part of the undergraduate path through its co-op system, so internships and paid work placements are deeply integrated into the academic calendar. Villanova also has solid access to Philadelphia-area internships and strong employer recruiting, but students usually need to be more proactive about fitting internships around a more traditional semester schedule.

For sheer volume and consistency of work experience before graduation, Drexel has the clearer edge. Its co-op model gives students extended, resume-building placements that often lead to return offers or a much stronger early professional network. That matters if you want career experience to be a guaranteed, visible part of college rather than something you arrange mostly during summers or part-time during the year.

Villanova is not weak for internships at all. It has a strong alumni network, especially in business, finance, engineering, and some corporate roles, and employers know the school well. Being near Philadelphia helps, and students can absolutely land strong internships, but the process feels more like the traditional college model: use the career center, apply widely, network, and often rely on summers.

One nuance is that Drexel’s advantage is strongest if you value hands-on experience early and often, and if you are comfortable with a more career-intensive college structure. Villanova may appeal more if you want a classic campus environment and still expect good internship outcomes, particularly if you are motivated and organized about pursuing them.

If internship access and supported career experience are one of your top deciding factors, Drexel is the better bet. Villanova can still lead to excellent internships, but Drexel is the school where that opportunity is more systematically built into the undergraduate experience.
