What is freshman campus life like at Tulane University?
I'm a high school junior looking at Tulane and trying to picture what everyday life feels like for first-year students. I'm especially interested in the overall social scene, how easy it is to meet people, and what the transition to campus is like during freshman year.
I can find plenty of official info, but I'm hoping to understand what it actually feels like once you get there.

Freshman campus life at Tulane is usually very social, active, and easier to plug into than at many larger universities. Because Tulane sits right in Uptown New Orleans, daily life also feels more connected to the city than a typical closed-campus experience.
For first-year students, the social scene often starts in the dorms. People meet through hall events, shared lounges, orientation groups, and clubs early in the semester, so you are not expected to figure everything out alone. Tulane also has a strong tradition of community service and public service opportunities, which gives a lot of freshmen a built-in way to form friendships around something structured instead of only through parties.
The overall vibe is outgoing and busy. There is definitely a visible party scene, especially on weekends, and Greek life exists, but it does not define everyone’s experience. A lot of students spend time at campus events, exploring restaurants and music in New Orleans, joining club sports, or just hanging out in the residential colleges and on the academic quad.
