What internship opportunities are available to Tulane students during the school year?
I'm a high school student looking at Tulane and I'm trying to understand what internships are actually like for undergrads while classes are in session.
I'm especially interested in whether students can find internships in New Orleans through the university or on their own, and how common it is to balance them with a normal course load.

Tulane students do have real internship options during the school year, and New Orleans is a major advantage here. Many undergrads intern part time while classes are in session, especially because Tulane sits close to downtown, the CBD, hospitals, nonprofits, courts, media outlets, and startups. Students find internships both through university-supported resources and by applying on their own to local organizations.
A lot of opportunities come through Tulane’s career services, school-specific advising, alumni connections, professors, and the university’s strong local ties. Common areas include public health and medicine, business, law, politics, environmental work, education, arts administration, and nonprofit/community-based organizations. Because Tulane has a strong civic engagement culture and deep roots in New Orleans, students often get access to placements that connect coursework with local institutions.
It is also pretty normal to balance a part-time internship with a regular course load. Students in professional tracks sometimes build internships into academic credit, independent study, practicum work, or semester planning, depending on the department.
