What are the Emory neuroscience major requirements?

I’m a high school junior looking at Emory because I’m interested in neuroscience, and I’m trying to understand what the major actually involves beyond just the name.

I want to know the main course requirements for the neuroscience major, like the core classes, science prerequisites, and whether there are research or lab expectations.

At Emory, the neuroscience and behavioral biology major is a structured science major with core coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, math or statistics, and upper-level neuroscience classes. You should expect introductory biology and chemistry sequences, organic chemistry, calculus or quantitative coursework, and foundational neuroscience courses before moving into electives. It is an interdisciplinary major, so the requirements are broader than just brain-focused classes.

There is not usually a universal requirement that every major complete independent research, but research is strongly encouraged and very common for Emory neuroscience students. Some courses include laboratory components, and many students join labs through Emory College, the psychology department, or biology and neuroscience faculty.
