How strong is Bucknell for engineering or business if I'm choosing between those two paths?

I'm a high school junior looking at Bucknell because I like the campus, but I'm still undecided between engineering and business. I'm trying to figure out whether Bucknell is considered especially strong in one of those areas, or if both programs are well regarded.

I'm not asking about admissions chances, just how people generally view Bucknell academically for those two majors.

Bucknell is well regarded for both engineering and business, so you would not be choosing between a clearly strong program and a clearly weaker one. Academically, the school has a solid reputation in both areas, especially for students who want a more personal undergraduate experience rather than a huge preprofessional environment.

Engineering is probably one of Bucknell’s most established academic strengths. It has a dedicated College of Engineering, good undergraduate focus, and a reputation for strong teaching and hands-on work. If you want smaller classes, direct faculty access, and an engineering program where undergrads are the priority, Bucknell tends to be viewed positively.

Business is also strong, especially through the Freeman College of Management. People generally see it as a respected undergraduate business option with solid outcomes in finance, accounting, management, and analytics. It may not carry the same immediate national name recognition as the biggest business schools, but it is definitely a legitimate and well-regarded path.

If you are truly split, Bucknell is a good place to consider because both tracks are taken seriously. Engineering may have a slightly more distinctive reputation at Bucknell in the eyes of some students and counselors, but business is not an afterthought at all.

The better choice really comes down to what kind of career direction you want. If you are interested in technical design, problem-solving, labs, and structured quantitative coursework, Bucknell engineering stands out. If you are more drawn to markets, organizations, strategy, finance, or data in a business setting, the business school is strong enough that you would not be settling.
