How should I use the Bucknell freshman class profile when deciding if the school is a realistic fit?

I'm a junior trying to build a college list, and I keep seeing Bucknell's freshman class profile with things like GPA ranges, test score ranges, and class rank info.

I'm not sure how to interpret that data without either getting overconfident or ruling myself out too quickly. I want to understand what that profile is actually useful for when I'm deciding whether Bucknell belongs on my list.

Bucknell’s freshman class profile is most useful as a range-setting tool, not a yes-or-no predictor. It helps you estimate whether Bucknell should be a likely, target, or reach based on how your academic numbers compare with recently enrolled students.

The biggest mistake is treating the profile like a cutoff. It is not. Those numbers describe students who enrolled, not every student who was admitted, and Bucknell also evaluates course rigor, grades over time, activities, writing, and overall fit.

A practical way to use it is this: if your academics are comfortably in range, Bucknell belongs on your list if you like the school for non-numerical reasons too. If you are somewhat below range, keep it only if you are comfortable treating it as a reach and balancing your list with colleges where your numbers are stronger. If you are far below range across multiple academic measures, it is usually better not to rely on Bucknell as a realistic option.
