How strong is Fordham’s psychology program for undergraduates?
I’m a high school junior looking at colleges where I could major in psychology, and Fordham is on my list. I’m trying to figure out how strong the undergraduate psych program actually is in terms of academics, research, and preparation for grad school.
Most of what I find is pretty general, so I’m hoping to understand what Fordham’s psych program is really known for.

Fordham’s undergraduate psychology program is generally well regarded, especially if you want a solid liberal arts foundation plus access to research and a path toward graduate study. It is not usually talked about as a nationally dominant psychology department in the same way as a few huge research universities, but it is definitely a credible and academically serious option for undergrads.
The department tends to emphasize research methods and statistics, which matters a lot if you are thinking about grad school.
For grad school prep, Fordham can be a strong choice if you do well academically, build research experience, and form close relationships with professors. Its psychology major should prepare you well for master’s or doctoral applications, especially if you take the more quantitative and research-heavy parts seriously.
What Fordham is really known for is a combination of strong academics, Jesuit liberal arts training, and location-based opportunity rather than one ultra-famous undergraduate psych niche. If you want a program with good faculty access, research exposure, and NYC-related opportunities, it is worth serious consideration.
