Is Georgetown more difficult to get into than the University of Florida?

Georgetown is typically more difficult to gain admission to than the University of Florida overall, particularly for applicants outside Florida. Georgetown draws a highly self-selecting national and international pool, expects very strong academics in a demanding high-school program, and evaluates students for specific undergraduate schools such as the School of Foreign Service, McDonough School of Business, and College of Arts & Sciences.

Georgetown tends to suit applicants whose records show sustained academic depth, strong writing and recommendations, and a clear intellectual or professional direction. Its required alumni interview, school-specific application questions, and emphasis on curriculum make the application process more individually scrutinized than a simple numbers comparison suggests. Certain Georgetown programs, especially Foreign Service and business, can be exceptionally competitive.

UF is also highly selective, especially for out-of-state applicants. It receives a very large volume of applications and looks closely at course rigor, grades, test scores, and how students have used opportunities in their schools and communities. Florida residents may have a meaningful institutional advantage, though strong in-state applicants are still competing in a deep pool.

For a high-achieving Florida resident, UF can be a realistic but still selective option, while Georgetown may be more of a reach. For an out-of-state student, both can be difficult, but Georgetown is usually the more demanding admissions target because of its smaller entering class and more nationally concentrated applicant pool.
