How does Northeastern’s campus size compare with Penn State’s?

Northeastern’s Boston campus feels compact and city-integrated, while Penn State’s University Park campus feels much larger, more self-contained, and more like a traditional college town.

A student who wants short walks and easy access to an urban neighborhood may feel more comfortable at Northeastern. It is realistic to move between many classes, dining options, and campus resources on foot in a relatively short time, and Boston’s public transit is immediately available for reaching co-ops, internships, cultural sites, and other parts of the city. Walking between classes is still manageable within the core, but some destinations, residence areas, and recreation facilities are farther apart. Campus buses are a more routine part of getting around, especially in bad weather or when traveling beyond the central academic area.
