UMN Twin Cities is a strong fit for someone who can genuinely embrace four distinct seasons, including a long, very cold winter. Minneapolis and St. Paul offer plenty to do outdoors in fall and spring, while winter changes routines: students rely on layers, indoor connections and study spaces, public transit, and planning around snow and wind. Campus life does not stop, but socializing and activities shift more indoors, with winter sports, ice skating, and seasonal events becoming part of the culture.

At USF, the campus has a more spread-out, sunny, subtropical feel. Students can use outdoor spaces regularly, though midday walks can be uncomfortable during the hottest months and sudden storms are common. Tampa also offers easy access to warm-weather attractions such as waterfront areas, beaches, and professional sports.
