Evanston offers a calmer home base than a major city, while Chicago expands internships and entertainment. Its quarter system moves quickly, though, and some students experience real pressure from the academic workload and achievement-oriented culture.

For student satisfaction, picture an ordinary Tuesday rather than an admitted-students weekend. At Tulane, that might mean walking through a warm, active campus and heading into New Orleans with friends. At Northwestern, it might mean a demanding class day, a lakeside walk, and an evening with an organization or in Chicago. Students happiest at Tulane often prioritize atmosphere and social energy; students happiest at Northwestern often want challenge, depth, and access to a broader academic and professional ecosystem.
