Is Arizona State or King’s College London better preparation for applying to U.S. medical school?

Arizona State University is the more practical preparation for applying to U.S. medical schools. Its coursework, advising, transcripts, faculty evaluations, and clinical opportunities are organized within the U.S. pre-med system, so completing the standard science prerequisites and building an application through AMCAS is much more straightforward. ASU also has dedicated pre-health advising and access to clinical and research opportunities in the Phoenix area.

At King’s College London, you could receive an excellent science education, particularly in a focused biomedical or life-sciences program, but a U.K. undergraduate curriculum is less designed around the broad U.S. medical-school prerequisite sequence. You would need to verify individually that your modules satisfy requirements such as laboratory-based general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, biology, biochemistry, English or writing, and sometimes psychology or statistics. A specialized three-year British degree may leave less room to add missing courses.

Medical schools set their own policies on foreign degrees and foreign prerequisite coursework, so attending King’s could mean taking additional U.S. post-baccalaureate classes before applying. It can also complicate transcript evaluation and make it harder to obtain U.S.-based clinical experience and recommendation letters familiar to admissions committees.

KCL would make sense mainly if you genuinely prefer studying in London and are prepared for possible additional U.S. coursework afterward.
