For a student who wants the widest range of research, hospital, and health-professions opportunities, Arizona State is likely to offer stronger pre-med preparation. Its large scale in the Phoenix area gives students access to extensive faculty research, major health systems, public-health work, and a broad network of clinical and volunteer settings. ASU also has dedicated pre-health advising and a large enough course selection to support many possible majors alongside pre-med requirements.

ASU is especially compelling for a self-directed student who will actively seek out labs, physician shadowing, service, and leadership. The opportunities are substantial, but students need to take initiative in a very large university environment.
