Is Brandeis or NYU better for getting internships in Boston?

For a student whose priority is building Boston relationships during the academic year, Brandeis is the more practical choice. Its Waltham campus places you within commuting distance of Boston employers, hospitals, research labs, nonprofits, startups, and financial firms, so part-time internships during fall or spring are realistically accessible.

Brandeis fits someone who wants to use the school year to attend Boston networking events, interview in person, and potentially keep the same internship or research role across multiple semesters. This is especially useful for fields with a substantial Boston presence, including biotech, health care, social impact, research, education, and some finance and tech roles.

NYU makes more sense for a student who wants New York City to be the center of their college internship experience but plans to target Boston through summer roles, alumni outreach, or a deliberate job search. While enrolled in New York, it is much harder to take a regular in-person Boston internship during the semester; Boston opportunities would be more likely to happen in the summer or remotely.

Neither school guarantees a Boston internship, and students at either can apply successfully.
