William 6 Mary fits someone who likes a quieter, more contained setting. Williamsburg has shops, restaurants, and tourism because of Colonial Williamsburg, so it is not isolated, but it does not give the feeling of living in a major metropolitan area. Student life there is more campus-centered, and the surrounding area tends to feel calmer and more residential.

Columbia is the clear answer. William 6 Mary offers a charming college-town environment, while Columbia offers a true urban one.
