Arizona State is the clearer match if warm weather is a major priority. Tempe is sunny for most of the academic year, and ASU has a big, energetic social scene built around a large student body, major sports, downtown Tempe, and easy access to Phoenix. Oregon has plenty of school spirit and a lively campus too, but Eugene is much cooler, cloudier, and rainier for a significant part of the year.

ASU tends to fit students who want an active, outward-facing college experience where campus life blends into a city environment. Mill Avenue, restaurants, concerts, pro sports in the Phoenix area, and lots of student organizations create a constant sense that something is happening. The social atmosphere is broad rather than narrowly defined, so you can find Greek life, game-day energy, casual friend groups, and off-campus options without feeling boxed into one scene.

Oregon is more appealing for someone who wants a fun campus but in a more classic college-town setting. Eugene has strong Ducks spirit, a visible outdoor culture, and a campus vibe that can feel more self-contained and community-oriented than ASU. If your idea of fun includes football weekends, greenery, bikeable surroundings, and a slightly more laid-back Northwest personality, Oregon does that well, just not with warm weather most of the year.
