Which is better for internships, Villanova or Boston College?

The biggest practical tradeoff is location versus business-school structure: Boston College gives you stronger day-to-day access to a major city internship market during the school year, while Villanova gives business students a very established, career-focused environment through the Villanova School of Business and quick rail access into Philadelphia. For internships while classes are in session, Boston College’s spot near Boston is a real advantage because finance, consulting, healthcare, startups, and nonprofit opportunities are all close by. Villanova is not isolated either, but it is more suburban, so many internships depend a bit more on commuting into Center City Philadelphia.

For business and related fields, both schools place students well, but they do it a little differently. Boston College benefits from a very deep alumni network, especially in finance, consulting, accounting, and East Coast business hubs. That can matter a lot for summer recruiting and for finding semester-time roles in Boston. Villanova also has strong business outcomes and a well-regarded undergraduate business program, which can make employer pipelines feel especially visible and structured for business majors.

If your definition of “better for internships” is easiest access during the academic year, I’d give Boston College the edge. Being in the Boston area makes it simpler to interview, work part time, and build relationships without needing as much planning around transportation. That convenience adds up.

If you are specifically focused on undergraduate business and want a school where business is especially central to campus identity, Villanova is very compelling and can absolutely lead to strong internships, especially in Philadelphia, New York, and other Northeast markets. But on the narrow question of overall internship access, especially during the school year, Boston College comes out a bit ahead.
