Rice tends to fit students who want smaller classes, more faculty access, and a campus culture where it is easier to build strong academic relationships early. For pre-med, that matters because recommendation letters, lab opportunities, and advising often come through those connections. Rice also has a strong reputation in the sciences, and being near so many hospitals and research centers can create a very efficient pipeline into the kinds of experiences med schools expect.

ASU makes a lot of sense for students who want a larger university with a wider range of pathways, more scale, and often more flexibility in how they build their pre-med record.
