Florida State vs University of Georgia for business: which is better for undergrad career opportunities?

I’m trying to decide between Florida State and the University of Georgia for studying business, and both seem like solid choices. I care most about internships, recruiting, and having strong job opportunities after graduation.

I know both schools have good reputations overall, but I’m not sure which one gives business students the better path into careers.

For undergraduate business career opportunities, the University of Georgia has the edge. UGA’s Terry College of Business is especially well known among employers in the Southeast, and its location and alumni reach create stronger access to recruiting in Atlanta, which is one of the region’s biggest business hubs. That tends to matter for internships during college and for landing full-time roles after graduation.

One concrete differentiator is employer access. UGA benefits from deep pipelines into Atlanta across finance, consulting, accounting, marketing, real estate, and corporate rotational programs. Terry is a school that many Southeastern employers know well, so students often have an easier time finding on-campus recruiting, networking events, and alumni connections tied directly to business roles.

Florida State is still a solid option, especially if cost is notably lower or if you want to work in Florida after graduation. FSU can open doors in accounting, finance, real estate, and government-adjacent business settings, and its alumni network in Florida is meaningful. But for the specific combination of internships, recruiter visibility, and post-grad business placement, UGA usually offers a more direct runway.
