Which is better for finance: Fordham or Brandeis?

I’m a junior trying to figure out which college would make more sense for studying finance. Fordham and Brandeis both seem like good options, but I’m not sure which one is generally considered stronger for finance and related career paths.

I’m mainly trying to understand which school has the better reputation and overall fit for someone interested in the field.

For finance specifically, Fordham usually has the clearer edge.

Fordham fits a student who wants business to be central from the start. You can study finance in a program built around business coursework, networking, and employer access, and the NYC location matters a lot because students can intern during semesters instead of waiting only for summers. That kind of proximity can make a real difference in building experience and contacts early.

Brandeis makes more sense for a student who wants a more academic, liberal arts-oriented environment and is interested in finance through economics, business, analytics, or a broader quantitative path rather than a classic undergrad business-school experience. Brandeis has a strong intellectual reputation and can work well for students who may want flexibility across econ, math, data, or even pre-grad-school options.

In terms of reputation, Fordham tends to carry more specific name recognition in finance circles because of the New York connection. Brandeis has strong overall academic credibility, but that reputation is broader than finance-focused.

So the real question is whether you want a preprofessional business environment or a more traditional academic campus where finance is one possible direction among several. For a student already fairly sure about finance as a career path, Fordham is usually the more practical choice.
