Is Fordham or Quinnipiac better for biology majors?

I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both Fordham and Quinnipiac are on it. I want to major in biology and I’m trying to figure out which school is generally stronger for that field.

I’m mostly looking at the overall experience for a bio major, like academics and preparation for what comes after college.

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Fordham gives you a stronger academic environment and broader post-college network, while Quinnipiac offers a more explicitly health-professions-oriented setting with very direct pre-professional support. For a biology major, that means Fordham is often the better pick if you want a traditional, rigorous biology foundation with flexibility, and Quinnipiac stands out more if you are already leaning toward applied health pathways. Both can prepare you well, but they do it in somewhat different ways.

Fordham has an edge in overall academic reputation and location-based opportunities. Its New York City setting can matter for biology students because access to hospitals, research institutions, and internships is unusually strong, especially if you may want research, clinical exposure, or connections beyond campus.

Quinnipiac is especially appealing for students who want a campus culture closely tied to health sciences. It is well known for health-related programs, and that tends to create good infrastructure around advising, clinical exposure, and career preparation. If your idea of biology is closely connected to pre-med, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, or other health-professional routes, Quinnipiac can feel more directly built around those goals.

For biology specifically, Fordham is usually the stronger choice in the more academic sense. I would lean Fordham if you want the better-known university, stronger urban opportunities, and a biology major that keeps multiple doors open. I would put Quinnipiac ahead only if you know you want a more health-professions-centered undergraduate experience and prefer that kind of career-focused environment from the start.
