Tulane vs Rutgers: which is the better value for college?

Tulane fits a student who is willing to pay more for a more distinct undergraduate experience and, ideally, has enough aid to reduce the gap. It offers a smaller, more residential feel than Rutgers, a strong sense of campus identity, and well-known strengths in areas like public health, policy, and service-oriented learning. New Orleans is also a real draw, and for some students that setting, combined with Tulane’s culture and undergraduate focus, adds value that is hard to measure only in salary or rankings.

If your question is pure financial value, Rutgers usually comes out ahead. If your family would need to stretch significantly for Tulane, the return is often hard to justify unless Tulane is offering substantial merit or need-based aid, or unless there is something unusually specific about the Tulane experience that matters to you.
