Freeman School of Business benefits from the university’s private-school scale and connections in areas such as finance, consulting, entrepreneurship, hospitality, and the Gulf South economy. SDSU’s Fowler College of Business is a large, established public business school in San Diego, with access to a major regional market spanning technology, real estate, tourism, defense, international trade, and startups.

Do not compare published tuition alone. Compare each school’s four-year net cost after grants and scholarships, then include travel, housing, health insurance, and the cost of internships or unpaid summer opportunities. A meaningful Tulane merit or need-based award can narrow the gap substantially; without one, its higher price is difficult to justify solely on the basis of having a business major. For an out-of-state student, SDSU may also become much less of a bargain, so the actual financial-aid offers matter more than the public-versus-private label.

For most California residents paying close to the standard in-state cost, SDSU offers better financial value for business. Tulane becomes the more compelling choice when its net price is close to SDSU’s, your family can comfortably absorb the difference, and you specifically value its campus environment and New Orleans-based network.
