Is UVA or Villanova better for finance?
I'm trying to narrow down my college list and both UVA and Villanova keep coming up for finance. I know they are both respected, but I want to understand which one generally has the stronger reputation and outcomes for someone aiming for a finance career.
I'm mostly interested in the overall undergraduate finance opportunities and how each school is viewed by employers.

The biggest practical tradeoff is breadth and brand versus a more focused business-school path. UVA tends to offer the stronger overall reputation in finance because McIntire is one of the most established undergraduate business programs in the country, and UVA has especially deep recruiting pipelines into banking, asset management, and consulting. Villanova is very well respected too, particularly in the Northeast, but its reach is usually a bit more regional and less broad at the highest-prestige finance employers.
For undergraduate finance opportunities, UVA has an edge in both employer visibility and alumni network scale. McIntire’s curriculum is well known, and UVA students benefit from a very large alumni base across New York, Charlotte, DC, and other finance hubs.
Villanova’s advantage is that business is central to the undergraduate experience from the start, and the finance major is a clear, direct path. It has strong placement into accounting, corporate finance, and many solid finance roles, with especially good connections in Philadelphia and New York. Students often find the business community there tight-knit and accessible, which can matter if you prefer a smaller, more business-focused environment.
If the question is which school is more highly viewed by employers for undergraduate finance, UVA usually comes out ahead. Villanova is still a strong option, but for pure finance reputation and top-end recruiting outcomes, UVA has the stronger pull.
