Notre Dame tends to fit students who want a tight, highly engaged alumni community that is known for responding to student outreach, especially in business, finance, consulting, tech, and some nonprofit fields. The undergraduate focus matters too: at Notre Dame, undergrads are a central priority, and that often shows up in recruiting access, mentorship, and career advising that feels more personal.

Penn State makes sense for students who are comfortable navigating a bigger system and taking advantage of scale. Its alumni base is enormous, and in fields like engineering, supply chain, communications, agriculture, and many corporate roles, that reach can absolutely translate into internships. The tradeoff is that at a school that size, access is often less hand-held, so outcomes depend more on how early and strategically you use career fairs, clubs, faculty connections, and alumni outreach.

On career support specifically, Notre Dame is more likely to feel streamlined and relationship-based, while Penn State can offer breadth and a wider range of pipelines if you know how to plug into them.
