Its Philadelphia location puts students close to New York, DC, and other major hubs, and employers recruit heavily across Penn’s undergraduate schools, not just Wharton. The alumni network is also unusually active in helping students with internships, referrals, and informational conversations.

One concrete difference is the density of employer access during the school year. Penn benefits from being in a major city and from having a very established campus recruiting ecosystem, so students tend to see a high volume of employer events, coffee chats, interviews, and alumni programming. For fields like investment banking, consulting, and some tech and startup roles, Penn’s pipeline is especially visible and consistent.

Notre Dame is still excellent for recruiting, but it works a little differently. Its alumni network is famously loyal and often deeply willing to go to bat for students, which can be a real advantage in hiring. In some industries, especially consulting, finance, accounting, and Midwest business circles, that Notre Dame connection carries real weight and can open doors through personal outreach even when the company’s formal campus presence is smaller.

Another difference is brand geography. Penn’s name travels a bit more easily nationwide and internationally in white-collar recruiting, while Notre Dame has particularly strong traction in the Midwest and among employers who value its culture and alumni affinity.
