How does admissions difficulty compare between UNC and Duke for undergraduate applicants?

Duke is meaningfully harder to get into than UNC for undergraduate applicants. Both schools are highly selective, but Duke is typically viewed as an ultra-reach even for very strong students, while UNC is selective in a more mixed way because in-state and out-of-state applicants are treated very differently.

At UNC, admissions odds depend heavily on whether you are a North Carolina resident.
