For a career in politics, is UCLA or Georgetown the better college choice?

Students can often combine classes with semester-long work in policy, public affairs, or advocacy settings during the academic year, which is harder to replicate from Los Angeles if your target is federal politics.

UCLA is still a serious option, especially if your interests lean toward California politics, state government, public policy in a large public university setting, or media-adjacent political work. It has excellent faculty, broad campus resources, and access to Los Angeles networks in law, organizing, communications, and entertainment, all of which can intersect with politics. For someone interested in Sacramento, California campaigns, or policy areas tied to the West Coast, UCLA can be very valuable.

If the question is which school offers the stronger overall advantage for building a politics career, Georgetown is the clearer answer. It is simply more embedded in the institutions, internships, and professional culture that feed directly into political careers, especially at the national level.
