Which college is better for internships, Cornell or Drexel?

For internships specifically, Drexel has the more built-in system. Its co-op model is designed around getting students into paid, career-relevant work placements, and that structure makes internship access far more direct than at most universities. Cornell absolutely opens doors through reputation and alumni reach, but Drexel is the school where work experience is most intentionally woven into the undergraduate experience.

Drexel’s biggest advantage is infrastructure. The university has longstanding employer pipelines, advising centered on co-op placement, and an academic calendar built to accommodate extended work terms. That means students are not just encouraged to intern, they are moving through a system that expects it and supports it in a very concrete way.

Location also matters here. Drexel’s Philadelphia setting gives students access to a major city job market during the school year, which can make part-time work, local internships, and networking more convenient. Cornell is in Ithaca, which is much more isolated, so many students rely on summer internships or opportunities farther from campus rather than easy in-semester access.

Cornell’s edge is brand power, especially for highly selective fields like finance, tech, engineering, consulting, and research. A Cornell student may have access to very prestigious internships and a very strong alumni network, and in some industries that name recognition carries real weight. But that is different from saying the process is easier. In terms of a structured path to actually landing substantial work experience as an undergraduate, Drexel stands out more clearly.
