Pitt tends to fit the student who wants medicine to feel built into daily campus life. If you like the idea of being in a place where hospitals, labs, and undergrad science departments are closely intertwined, Pitt is very appealing. It can feel more naturally set up for pre-med students who want convenience and volume of opportunities, especially in clinical settings.

BU makes a lot of sense for the student who wants a more urban, independent experience and is comfortable navigating a large city for opportunities. Boston has outstanding hospitals, research centers, and biotech access, so the ceiling is very high. But at BU, finding the right mix of clinical work, shadowing, and research may require a bit more initiative and self-direction, since the university and the city environment can feel more spread out than Pitt’s medical hub.
