Its biological sciences offerings are extensive, and its Orange County location creates more obvious access to hospitals, clinics, and research-adjacent internships.

One important difference is the surrounding health and research network. Irvine benefits from being closely connected to an academic medical center and a dense Southern California healthcare market, which can make clinical exposure, volunteering, and networking more convenient. That does not mean Riverside lacks opportunities, but UCI’s setting tends to make the pre-med path feel more established and easier to navigate.
