Its Orange County location puts students closer to a denser network of tech, healthcare, business, and biotech employers, and that tends to matter for both part-time experience during college and full-time recruiting after graduation. For grad school, both campuses can get students there, but Irvine usually offers a stronger overall platform because of its research footprint and broader external reputation.

The biggest differentiator is employer access during the school year. Irvine benefits from being near major job markets in Orange County and the wider LA area, so students often have more realistic access to internships without needing to relocate for every opportunity. That can translate into stronger resumes by senior year, which matters a lot more than the school name by itself.
