UC Berkeley vs Stanford for biology: which is better for an undergraduate pre-med or research path?

I’m trying to decide between UC Berkeley and Stanford and I want to study biology as an undergrad. I’m interested in both research and possibly pre-med, so I’m trying to understand which school tends to be stronger for biology-related opportunities and overall preparation.

I know both are strong schools, but I’m looking for a general comparison of the undergraduate biology experience, especially for someone who wants good research access and a solid science foundation.

Berkeley will give you a very strong science foundation, but Stanford often makes it easier to pair that rigor with mentorship, research continuity, and pre-med support.
