Is it harder to get admitted to Arizona State or Yale?

Yale is much harder to get admitted to than Arizona State. Yale has one of the most selective undergraduate admissions processes in the country, with extremely limited space in each entering class and a highly holistic review that weighs grades, course rigor, essays, recommendations, activities, and personal qualities at a very high level. Arizona State, by contrast, is far more accessible and is known for admitting a much broader range of qualified applicants.

One major difference is the academic bar and the way applicants are evaluated. Yale expects outstanding performance in the most challenging classes available, and even many applicants with top grades and strong accomplishments are denied because the pool is so deep. Arizona State does care about academics, but its process is much less restrictive, and many students who meet published academic standards have a realistic path to admission.
