For college admissions, is University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign or Columbia viewed as more prestigious?

The biggest practical tradeoff is broad, field-specific strength and public flagship recognition at UIUC versus across-the-board elite-name recognition at Columbia. In admissions and general prestige conversations, Columbia carries the stronger overall brand because it is an Ivy League school with a more universally recognized level of selectivity and status.
