Which is better for internship access: Villanova or Georgetown?

I’m trying to decide between Villanova and Georgetown, and internship access is a big factor for me. I want a school where it’s realistic to find solid internships during the school year and summer, especially in competitive fields.

I’m mainly trying to understand which school gives undergrads better access to opportunities through location, alumni network, and recruiting.

Georgetown has the edge for internship access, especially if you want to intern during the school year in fields like politics, policy, international affairs, media, consulting, and finance. Its Washington, DC location makes part-time in-semester internships far more realistic, and the school’s alumni network is especially strong in government, nonprofits, diplomacy, and adjacent industries.

Location is the biggest separator. At Georgetown, students can reach Capitol Hill, federal agencies, think tanks, major nonprofits, embassies, consulting firms, and media organizations without needing a summer-only plan.

The alumni and employer ecosystem also favors Georgetown in competitive, relationship-driven sectors. Employers in DC know the school well, and Georgetown students often benefit from a pipeline effect in areas tied to public service, global affairs, business, and law. The brand carries especially well in circles where networking and institutional familiarity matter.

Villanova still offers solid internship access, particularly for business students and for opportunities in the Philadelphia region, with additional reach into New York. Its alumni network is loyal and active, and students in programs like business can do very well with recruiting. But the internship experience is more likely to depend on commuting, summer timing, or building connections regionally rather than having the same density of nearby in-semester options that Georgetown students have.

For competitive fields where proximity and frequency of access really matter, Georgetown creates more day-to-day opportunity. Villanova is absolutely workable, but Georgetown makes the process more immediate and embedded in college life.
