Is Villanova or Lehigh better for internships for undergraduates?

I’m trying to decide between Villanova and Lehigh and want to think beyond just academics and campus vibe. Internship access matters a lot to me because I want a school that makes it easier to get experience during college.

I’m mainly wondering which one has stronger internship opportunities overall for undergrads.

The biggest practical tradeoff is location and employer access versus a more contained campus recruiting ecosystem. Villanova’s position on the Main Line, right outside Philadelphia, gives undergrads easier access to in-semester internships and a larger nearby job market in business, healthcare, media, nonprofits, and corporate roles. Lehigh has strong employer connections too, especially through engineering, business, and tech-related recruiting, but Bethlehem offers fewer nearby in-person options during the semester than Villanova does.

For internships overall, Villanova has an edge if you care about convenience and volume of opportunities while school is in session. Being close to Philadelphia makes it more realistic to intern part time during the academic year, and the university’s alumni network in the Philly and Northeast corridor is a real advantage. That matters most for students interested in finance, accounting, marketing, communications, healthcare administration, and other fields tied to major metro employers.

Lehigh is still very solid, and in some lanes it can be especially strong. Its undergraduate-focused culture, active career center, and loyal alumni base help students land internships, particularly in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, consulting, and certain business areas. Lehigh students do get strong outcomes, but those opportunities can depend a bit more on summer recruiting, targeted networking, or travel to larger markets like New York, Philadelphia, or New Jersey.

So if the question is which school makes internships easier to access for undergraduates across the widest range of fields, I’d give that to Villanova. If you are leaning heavily toward engineering or a technical field, Lehigh can absolutely compete and may even feel stronger in those areas, but for overall undergraduate internship access, Villanova is the more practical choice.
